UFL releases fixtures for the second-half of the 2010-2011 Season

The UFL has released the fixtures for the second-half of the current Etisalat Pro-League season, which will run though until June 2011.

The match fixtures were developed by the Technical Committee in consultation with the UAE FA and were approved at a UFL Board Members meeting held yesterday, December 28th under the direction of Dr. Tariq Al Tayer, Chairman of the UFL.

This meeting followed an earlier meeting between the UFL and the Host Broadcasters, Abu Dhabi Sports and Dubai Sports Channels, to ensure that as key partners of the League they also endorsed the schedule.

The second half of the Etisalat Pro-League season will commence on February 3rd, 2011. It will then be forced to take a break between February 20th and March 23rd due to the participation of the UAE Olympic Team and UFL clubs in the following competitions:

  • GCC League and the Asian Champions League - the UAE has six teams participating in both competitions
  • President's Cup (Quarter and Semi-Final)
  • UAE Olympic Team matches against Sri Lanka Olympic Team for 2012 Olympic qualifications

Other important points to note in relation to the new match fixtures are:

  • The Al Wahda versus Al Ahli match that was postponed from Week 9 due to the FIFA Club World Cup will now take place on February 14th
  • The Al Ain versus Al Nasr match in Week 13 has been shifted to take place on February 14th due to the participation of Al Ain Club in the Asian Champions League (ACL) qualifications on February 19th
  • If Al Ain does not qualify for the ACL then the current UFL match fixtures are subject to change as Al Ain Club will instead participate in the AFC Cup, which will affect Match Day 16 and Match Day 17
  • Changes may also occur in Week 14 of the Etisalat Pro-League depending on which clubs have qualified for the Semi Final of the President's Cup in order to ensure they have adequate rest days in between the two competitions
  • The last three weeks of the Etisalat Pro-League will kick off simultaneously on the same day in the interest of maintaining sporting fairness
