The club was officially publicized in 1974 in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the surface area of the club, which is located in Al Hazana, is (169,507) square meter. Currently, the club includes five main games: football, basketball, handball, tennis, and weightlifting. There are also ten playgrounds in the club for different games in addition to two covered halls and one hall for tennis and table tennis. In addition, there is currently an Olympic swimming pool which is redesigned according to the latest global pool standards.

In November 1993, the first football team won the President’s Cup for the first time in the club’s history, and it also won the first football Super Cup in the Emirates in 1994. The most premier achievement at the Emirates’ clubs level was the Asian Football Cup Runner up in the tournament hosted by the club in January 1995.

The club witnessed the emergence of the superstar and Emirates’ legendary football player, Adnan Al Talyani, who is among the nice players, ambassador of fair play, and is considered the player of the century who graduated from Al Shaab School.

The club continues to contribute to and support the national teams with distinguished players at the State’s level.

The club gained the title of “Commandos” due to the fighting spirit and love of competition shown by its teams. The club made cultural work an essential part of building young people physically and mentally so as to be in line with the renaissance witnessed by the Arab cultural capital. Thus, the base of this work in the “Commandos Battalion” widened to include all fields of literature and art, and the club’s name became associated with cultural activities which became twins to the sports activities.
