UFL hosts meeting with Club Chief Executives to discuss next season’s schedule

The UAE Football League (UFL) hosted a meeting with the Chief Executives Officers from its 12 member clubs in Dubai this morning to brief them on the proposed schedule for the 2011-2012 season and discuss ways to ensure the number of breaks throughout the season are limited.

The workshop was chaired by UFL Board Member and Head of the Technical Committee Abdullah Al Junaibi, and was attended by UFL Board Members Bader Al Gargawi and Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, UFL CEO Carlo Nohra, FA Technical Committee Manager Obeid Mubarak and all UFL Club CEOs with the exception of Kalba.

Commenting on the purpose of the meeting, Abdullah Al Junaibi said: "During the meeting we explained the process that we have followed to develop the match schedule for next season, taking into consideration UAE National Team commitments, FIFA days, as well as the clubs' participations in regional and continental tournaments."

During the meeting it was agreed that the season will start on September 10th, 2011 with the Etisalat Super Cup match between this season's Etisalat Pro-League champions and the Presidents Cup champions. Etisalat Cup matches will then follow and the Etisalat Pro-League competition will kick-off in the last week of September.

"Following the meeting we will take into consideration all of the clubs' remarks and feedback to the proposed schedule in order to finalise a vision that is clear, with the main objective being to make sure the League does not suffer from the extended breaks it has this season," said Al Junaibi.

"Overall the meeting was extremely positive and we thank the clubs for their participation and cooperation."

A meeting will now be held with the UFL's official broadcasters, Abu Dhabi Sports Channel and Dubai Sports Channel, to discuss the proposed schedule before it is finalised.

At the end of the meeting, UFL CEO Carlo Nohra conducted the Etisalat Cup Final match draw to identify Team A and Team B between finalists Al Ain and Al Shabab. Al Ain was drawn as Team A and Al Shabab as Team B.
