UAE Under 19 National Team needs to beat Vietnam

The UAE Under-19 Youth Team collected their first point in the Asian Championships currently in China following their goalless draw with Jordan, taking third position in their group.

Earlier they lost their opening match to Japan who have already moved to the second round and are on top of the table with full points from two matches after maintaing an easy 4-0 victory over Vietnam.

The UAE squad, led by National coach Juma'a Rabei, revived their hopes to qualify for the second round, but need to beat Vietnam in the next encounter scheduled to kick off tomorrow, Friday October 8 at 10.30am. At the same time they must hope Japan overcome their opponents Jordan. If this happens, the UAE team will finish the qualifying stage as runners-up with four points to accompany Japan into the next phase. One point is enough to see Vietnam through to the second round.

The UAE squad were the better side after dominating major parts of their game against Jordan, but they failed to beat their rivals whose defense stood solid throughout. The UAE youth players committed a number of mistakes, but also rallied to launch many raids but unfortunately they failed to produce goals.
