Abdullah Misfer appointed coach of UAE Senior National Team
HH Sheikh Hazaa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Honorary President of the UAE Football Association, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, has approved the decision taken by the Football Association to appoint Dr. Abdullah Misfer as a technical coach for the UAE Senior National Team to replace former Slovenian coach Strecko Katanec and lead the National team during the next phase. Katanec was sacked last week after maintaining disappointing results achieved by the team.
The decision was announced by HE Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi Chairman of the Football Association in a press conference held after the end of the first half of the Etisalat Super Cup match between Al Jazira and Al Wahda played this evening at Bani Yas Stadium in Al Shamkha.
The Football Association held a meeting earlier under the chairmanship of Al Rumaithi at 5pm before the game at Bani Yas' meetings Hall. It was a complement to the meeting held on last Thursday in Abu Dhabi for discussing the issue of selecting a new coach for the National team.
Al Rumaithi announced that Khalifa Mubarak, former Al Wasl coach and Hassan Ibrahim former coach of Ras Al Khaimah will be assistants to Dr. Misfer who will lead the National Team in its four remaining World Cup qualifiers matches after which the UAE Football Association will review the situation.
Dr. Misfer had coached the UAE National in earlier periods along with a number of UAE clubs.
