The UAE Olympic team qualify to the pre-quarterfinals

The UAE Olympic football squad continued their successful march in the Asian games currently hosted by China in Guangzhou city after beating their components Uzbekistan 3-0 in their concluding match of the first stage played today afternoon November 11th at Yingdong stadium. The UAE team raised their tally to 7 points to stay on top of group 5 on goal difference followed by Honk Kong as runners-up with also 7 points after maintaining a deserved 4-1 win over Bangladesh in the match played also today at the same time at Huadu Stadium. The UAE and Honk Kong teams have qualified to the next pre-quarterfinals stage which will be played on knock out bases.

 

Diyab Awana put the UAE team in the lead only 10 minutes from the start to give more confidence to his teammates and his colleague Ahmad Khalil added the 2nd goal 7 minutes later to end the first session with a 2-0 victory.

 

The winners dominated the match after the break and their efforts were rewarded when Ahmad Khalil made it  3-0 in the 77th minute to secure a valuable win for UAE team.

 

The UAE team have started their march in this tournament with a 1-1 draw before beating Bangladesh 3-0 in the second round to revive their hopes to qualify to the next stage in which 16 squads are likely to take part including the two teams who finish the preliminary phase on top of each of the six groups along with the best four teams who take the third position by the end of the first stage.
