The UAE Olympic beat Egyptian counterparts

The UAE Olympic football team maintained a lovely 3-0 win over their Egyptian counterparts in their friendly match played at Khalifa Stadium in Al Ain club on Thursday October 7. Hamdan Al Kamaly opened the score off a long-range volley to give the hosts the lead eight minutes before the break. Saeed Al Kathiri added the second only one minute into the injury time to finish the first session with a 2-0 win and substitute Ismail Khamis sealed the result for the home team when he netted the third goal in the 84th minute.

Both teams will tackle it out again when they play their second game scheduled on Sunday 10 at the same venue. The UAE team, who bagged the Gulf Cup title in August 2010, are currently preparing for the Asian Games in China due to kick off November 7 as well as the qualifiers for London Olympic games 2012. They will play in the forthcoming Asian Games in group five against Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Hong Long.

The Egyptians are also warming up for the African games and London Olympic Games as well. During their first match, the two squads missed the services of a number of key players due to different reasons. The UAE striker Ahmad Khalil of Al Ahli and his teammate midfielder Omar Abdul Rahman from Al Ain club, who are currently taking part with the UAE Under-19 team in the Asian Youth Championships in China, will join the Olympic squad later.
