The UAE Football Team lose 1-2 to South Korea
The UAE Football National Team lost 1-2 to South Korea in the third round of the Asian qualifiers to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in their Group "B" away match played this evening at Suwon World Cup World Stadium to weaken their chance to qualify to the decisive stage and to the World Cup Finals. The hosts have raised their tally to 7 points to stay on top of the second group and boost their hopes to secure a seat and qualify to the finals in Brazil.
The two teams were tied to a goalless draw before the interval and UAE squad demonstrated brilliant display compared to the previous two games where they lost to Kuwait and Lebanon. Park Ji Sung gave his side the lead in the 51st minute off a defensive error that put him clear with only Majid Nasir to beat. He drove the ball home to the left hand side scoring the first goal of the match. The UAE defender Hamdan Al Kamali netted an own goal in the 64th minute with a header when he tried to clear the ball away to make it 2-0 off a flag kick switched by Ki Sung.
The UAE team made some forays, but the finishing was very poor. Ismail Matar and Ismail Al Hamadi squandered easy scoring chances. Dr. Misfer the UAE coach fielded in Mohammad Al Shehhy and Ahmad Juma'a to strengthen the front line. Ismail Matar pulled one back in the 90th minute to end the match with a 2-1 win for South Korea.
