The UAE Association dismisses Katanec after two years of failures and defeats

National Team's coach Srecko Katanec on the back of his failure to lead the National Team in the World Cup qualifiers after losing 1/3 to Lebanon in the second successive match yesterday in Beirut. The team were also defeated 2 / 3 by the visiting team of Kuwait in their opening game played last Friday at home in Al Ain, which means diminishing of their chances to qualify to the final stage of the Asian qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, although mathematically speaking, there is still hope on condition that they have to win four remaining games against Korea, home and away, Kuwait in Kuwait and then Lebanon in UAE.
On the other hand, the UAE FA Technical Committee is expected to hold a meeting in the coming hours, to decide the new coach who will replace Katanec in leading the team during the remaining matches in the World Cup qualifiers, the first of which will be against South Korea in Seoul on October 11th.
The sacked coach Katanec failed in all competitions in which the UAE National Team took part during the past two years, and the most outstanding failure was in the Asian Cup held last January in Doha, when the team were knocked out at the end of the first round without scoring a single goal in three games. In spite of this, the coach was granted another chance to lead the UAE team in the current World Cup qualifiers, but the Slovenian coach continued his failures for the two defeats against Kuwait and Lebanon to put an end to his stint which was full of defeats and failures in the history of the UAE team.
