The number of fans of the Etisalat Cup second round matches increases by 13%
The number of fans attended the Etisalat Cup second round this season in six games was 11 774 spectators, a new number compared to the presence of 5935 spectators in the same second round last season, an increase of 5839 spectators, and a rate of increase that reaches 98%. Al Wahda- Al Jazira game, which was held last Friday evening at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, was followed by 5282 spectators, the highest figure among all other matches.
The increase in the number of spectators in the first round this season compared to the number of attendees of the same round last season is 1345 spectators, a percentage increase of 13%. The first round matches have seen the presence of 10,429 spectators, and 11 774 spectators attended the matches of the second round this season. The match between Dubai and Al Ain played in the second round of the season at Dubai Club Stadium was ranked second in terms of attendance as the number of spectators followed the game was 1950. The game between Al Wasl and Emirates at Rashid Stadium in Al Ahli Club was in the third spot as it was attended by 1822 spectators, Al Ahli and Sharjah at Maktoum bin Rashid Stadium in Al Shabab Club came fourth with"1321 spectators", Bani Yas and Ajman, 5th "831" while the match between Al Nasr and Al Shabab at Dubai Club pitch came at the bottom of the table with audiences reaching " 568" spectators.
Some athlete critics attributed the increasing number of fans this season to several factors: First, the 2011-2012 season has started with the Etisalat Cup Competition, unlike what was in the past when the season usually starts with the league competition, and for this reason masses of fans came to follow the games and see the new signings of their clubs from local and foreign players.
Second, there were top games and derbies in the first round like Al Ain and Al Wahda, as it was attended by 3869 spectators, Al Jazira and Al Wasl followed by 3740 spectators, while there was a derby in the second round between Al Wahda and Al Jazira which was followed by 5282 spectators, a match record holder in attendance in the Etisalat Cup until now.
