PLC Rights Licensing Committee meets to review bids
The PLC’s Rights Licensing Committee met on Monday evening at its Abu Dhabi headquarters to open the envelopes containing bids received for its Media Rights and Host Broadcaster Services for its Competitions (Etisalat Pro League, Etisalat Reserve League, Etisalat Cup and Etisalat Super Cup) for the three seasons from 2013/14-2015/16 in the territory of Middle East & North Africa, following the closing of submissions on the set deadline of 15th April. Bidding was opened to local broadcasters only at a press conference held by the Pro League Committee at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi last month, where the Invitation to Tender was announced and details of the two broadcasting packages on offer were revealed.
The Rights Licensing Committee agreed to the request of Dubai Sports Channel to withdraw their previously submitted bid, and during Monday’s meeting both the technical and financial offers from Abu Dhabi Sports Channel were opened and assessed by the Committee. The technical proposal has now been referred to a technical consultant, whose findings will be duly relayed with the Rights Licensing Committee’s recommendations to the Executive Office in order for the appropriate decision to be taken.
The Rights Licensing Committee meeting was Chaired by H.E. Hamad Nekhirat Al Ameri, Member of the Executive Office and Chairman of the Rights Licensing Committee, and attended by H.E. Mohamed Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the Rights Licensing Committee, and H.E. Khaled Al Mubasheri, H.E. Adnan Al Bahar and H.E. Salah Salem Aljaeedi, Members of the Rights Licensing Committee, along with Mr Colin Smith, Chief Executive Officer and Mr Anas Bukhash, Chief Operations Officer of the Pro League Committee.
