Strong start for Al-Jazira

Last year's Etisalat Pro-League runners-up had a strong start this season as they claimed a 3-0 win against Al Nasr in their opening match at Mohamad bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi on Friday. Al-Jazira took a 1-0 lead in the first half through Khalid Sabeel (32) before Abdulla Moosa doubled their advantage (75) and then Ahmad Jumaa sealed the win in the second minute of stoppage time.

The start of the game saw good pressure from Al Nasr who should have opened the scoring three minutes after kick-off through their Brazilian Linardo Lima but his shot was saved by Al-Jazira goalkeeper Ali Khaseif. However, Al-Jazira replied four minutes later when their Ivory Coast striker Tony headed a cross from the right flank but the ball went next to the right upright before Ali Mabkhout shot went wide (12).

Al-Jazira pressure continued and it eventually paid on 31 minutes when Khalid Sabeel picked up a lose ball before firing a powerful left-foot shot in the right corner past Al Nasr goalkeeper Ismail Rabee.
The dominance of Al-Jazira was clear in the second half and they nearly scored a second goal when Tony went into the area and fired a powerful shot across the goal but the ball went wide (48) while the shot of Subit Khater was saved by Rabee (56).

The pressure of Al-Jazira eventually paid when Abdulla Moosa made a good individual effort before edging couple of Al Nasr players and then fired a powerful left-foot shot to make it 2-0 (75).
Al-Jazira sealed their win in the second minute of stoppage time after a quick counter attack before Ahmad Jumaa followed a cross from the right easily into the net.
