STATEMENT BY UFL CHAIRMAN FOLLOWING AFC VISIT

Dr Tariq Bin Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Football League (UFL), hailed a meeting held on Sunday with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) delegation who had been visiting the UAE as extremely fruitful.

Dr. Al Tayer discussed with the visiting delegation a number of issues relating to the Etisalat Pro-League and the current standards of the League in comparison with those of the Professional Leagues in Asia.

The AFC delegation expressed their clear satisfaction, stating that they were extremely pleased with what they had seen during their visits to the 12 professional clubs, and Emirates Club which will be participating in the AFC Champions League.

Al Tayer said that the AFC delegation made some suggestions for areas to work on, including services for fans such as transport (buses), and food and beverage provisions at the stadiums, being able to accurately measure crowd attendance figures, and the production of fan information such as match programs.

"Even though this is only our third season as a professional league, the AFC inspection showed that our clubs are now applying professionalism standards properly," said Dr. Al Tayer.

"There are some areas that we need to work on and these will be tackled with seriousness and hard work. The promotion and development of football in this country is our main objective, as we strive to ensure our UAE League reaches the high levels of football and standard of operations found Asia."
