Al Nasr outclass Sharjah with a 5-4 victory

Al Nasr continued their successful march in the Etisalat Pro League following their 5-4 win over Sharjah in their six round game held at the losers' Stadium. The winners Al Nasr moved to 4th position with 10 points while Sharjah dropped one step downward taking 9th place with only 4 points from 6 matches. Amara Diane from Ivory Coast scored the all-important goal of the match in the last seconds of the injury time. The two teams played an opening and attacking football from the very start. The nine goals netted by both teams were not a proof for the strength of the offensive lines, but were an indicator for the severe errors committed by both goalkeepers and defenders.

Amara Diane opened the score for Al Nasr when he netted the first goal in the 24th minute off a long ball sent by midfielder Breciano for Diane to head it home over the goalie and then drove it into the empty net. Diane was sent free one minute later but the goalkeeper Yahya Mohammad saved bravely. Marcelinho of Sharjah leveled the result in the 34th minute off a defense mistake to end the first session with a 1-1 draw.

Marcelinho added the second goal for Sharjah 4 minutes after the break, but Carica made it 2-2 three minutes later off a strong volley. But Sharjah took the lead again via Edinho in the 60th minute off a blunder from Al Nasr custodian to give his side a 3-2 lead. Al Nasr pressed hard looking for the draw and their efforts were soon rewarded when Diane was sent free in the 84th minute to send the ball into the left hand side to make it 3-3. But only a few seconds have passed before Marcelinho scored his hat trick with a perfect header to give the hosts Sharjah the lead and Mahmoud Hassan surprised Sharjah when he scored Al Nasr's 4th goal in the 90th minute when he sent the ball into the empty net. The referee gave the two teams seven minutes as injury time and in the last seconds Amara Diane put the match beyond the reach of Sharjah when he capitalized on Breciano's cross ball to send a strong shot that secured the invaluable points for the visiting team Al Nasr.
