Sharjah hold Al Nasr to a 1-1 draw and Dubai beat Emirates 2-1

Sharjah and Al Nasr were tied to a 1-1 draw in their second group of the Etisalat Cup match played this evening at Sharjah Stadium. The two teams demonstrated a balanced display with the visitors Al Nasr controlling most part of the first session and the hosts Sharjah were the better side after the break.

Al Nasr, who played without their Australian Mark Bresciano, took the initiative and launched a number of forays giving hard time to Sharjah's defenders who stood solid on their way. But Al Nasr's front liners did not give up but continued their attempts every now and then and their efforts were soon resulted in their first goal via Ecuadorian Carlos Tennerio who scored the first goal of the match 15 minutes into play. Al Nasr squandered an early goal when Jalal Abdullah sent a strong volley off a stand ball that rebounded off the cross bar and cleared away by a defender only three minutes from the start.

The hosts tried every bit of effort to come back to the game through Brazilian Marcelo, the team's top scorer in the last season along with Brazilian Edinho and Eman Mubaali from Iran, but all their work went in vain. Al Nasr finished the first half with a 1-0 lead.

Guinea's Ismail Bangoura of Al Nasr came close to make it 2-0 seven minutes after the break when he faced the Sharjah's goalkeeper Jasim Mohammad but his shot rebounded off the goalie's body and Bangoura tried to pass the ball to Tennerio but the latter couldn't catch it. Al Nars' defender Hilal Saeed saved a dangerous attempt when Edinho sent a perfect header but Hilal headed back before the ball crosses the goal line in the 67th minute. But Edinho came to level the score nine minutes before the final whistle with a strong shot that beat Al Nasr's custodian Abdullah Mousa to end the game with a 1-1 draw.

In the second match of the day Dubai beat Emirates 2-1 in the match played at the losers' home ground. Moroccan Nabil Al Daoudi former striker of the Emirates team opened the score only four minutes from the word go and Al Hassan Saleh netted the equalizer in the 15th minute to end the match with a 1-a draw. The two teams struggled hard in the second session looking for the winner and it was Dubai's striker Hassan Abdullah who made it successfully in the 77th minute scoring the second goal giving his side three valuable points with a 2-1 win.
