Sharjah beat Kalba 3-0 to qualify to the Cup Golden square
Sharjah did not face any difficulty in beating Kalba 3-0 in the President's Cup Competition quarterfinal match held this evening at the Emirates Club in Ras Al Khaimah. The winners have qualified to the golden square to meet the team who will emerge winners in the second game between Al Jazira and Ajman due to kick off this night at 8.00pm.
Sharjah dominated the entire first session while they played a balanced second half but it was Sharjah who won the game with the least efforts.
Saeed Al Kas put the winners into the lead with only 14 minutes into play to boost the morale of his teammates. He received the ball inside the six yard area and he did not hesitate to slam it into the left hand side of Kalba's goalkeeper Mohammad Osman. Kalba made every bit of effort to come back to the match and level the score via Elyas Cano and French player Gregory, but all their attempts were weak and could not make the required danger and pressure. Brazilian striker Marcelinho made it 2-0 two minutes before the breather when he received a cross pass from Ali Al Saadi from the right flank and scored with great confidence.
Both teams continued their efforts after the break where Kalba's players tried hard to reduce the deficit but all their work was in vain. Marcelinho came again to exploit a severe blunder committed by the losers' defender Saud Faraj who returned a wrong pass to his goalie for the Brazilian player to collect the ball; round up the custodian before driving it into the empty net in the 59th minute to put the game beyond the reach of Kalba's players giving his side a 3-0 victory.
