Al Wahda overcome Bani Yas 2-1
Al Wahda raised their tally to 27 points following their 2-1 win over Bani Yas in the Etisalat Pro League round 19 match held tonight at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The duo Brazilians Fernando Bayano and Hugo scored for the winners and Sengahoor scored for the visitors.
Both teams played an open match trying to score an early goal as both were looking for a win to better their positions on the table.
The hosts threatened the visitors' goal only 7 minutes into play with a severe shot launched by Hayder Allo Ali, but Bani Yas goalkeeper Mohammed Ali Gholoom saved brilliantly before clearing the ball away from Ismail Mattar two minutes later.
Saleh Al Minhali came close to open the score in the 15th minute but his perfect header was deflected by Al Wahda goalie to a corner. The winners looked the better side through their continuous attempts and their efforts were soon paid dividends when Bayano scored the first goal with a left footer in the 18th minute. Hugo added the second goal off Ismail Mattar's lovely pass 8 minutes later. Bani Yas were rewarded a penalty when Essa Santo brought Saleh Al Minhali inside the box in the 29th minute but Nawaf Mubarak failed to score to end the first session with a 2-0 victory for Al Wahda.
The two coaches made some substitutions after the break with Calderon bringing in Sengahoor and Ahmed Ali to replace Haboosh Saleh and Adnan Hussain while Hickersberger fielded Amer Omar. The visiting team tried their best to level the score creating some good chances. Their striker Sengahoor reduced the deficit with a nice header in the 57th minute to make it 2-1. Yeste also came in to replace Amer Abdul Rahman in the 73th minute, but things remained the same till the final whistle for Al Wahda to end the game with a 2-1 win.
