Emirates beat Al Ahli 2-0 while Al Shabab tie with Dubai 1-1
The Rak team Emirates scored a rewarding home 2-1 victory over the red musketeers Al Ahli in the match that took place in Emirates Club stadium this afternoon at 5:20 pm within Round 13 of the Etisalat Pro League competition.
It was Al Ahli who controlled the match in the beginning. Grafite, Ismael Al Hamadi and the other musketeers were putting a lot of pressure over their hosts in the first 15 minutes and had more than one chance to score. Yet it was the penalty the RAK team earned in the 34th minute that turned the game upside down.
Although Diarra missed it but the spontaneous move of the Al Ahli goalkeeper Obaid Al Tawila before kicking the ball caused the referee to decide to repeat the penalty only then the Emirates 28 year old Ivorian forward netted the first goal to the hosts in the 36th minute. Again Diarra made a spectacular move motivated by his first score and within 5 minutes took advantage of his opponents’ momentary distraction and added the second goal to end the first half with a 2-0 victory to Emirates.
The second half saw the reds trying hard to compensate but with many wasted chances, Grafite only succeeded to score Al Ahli’s single goal in the 77th minute through a penalty to end the match with the 2-1 victory to the hosting team.
With 10 points after two consecutive league-wins since the beginning of the second-half season Emirates temporarily move up to the 10th place and have a big chance to keep it this week in case Sharjah failed to make it before the 2011 league champions Al Jazira in the encounter to take place tomorrow in Mohammad bin Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi, while Al Ahli also temporarily keep the 7th place with 17 points and might lose it to Ajman if the latter could beat Al Nasr tomorrow.
In the second encounter of the day, Al Shabab tied with Al Awir lions Dubai 1-1 in the match that took place in Maktoum bin Rashid at 5:25 pm within Round 13 of the Etisalat Pro League competition.
The first half was credited to the greens who scored first in the 16th minute through Villanueva and managed to end the first part of the game to their own. Dubai seemed more consistent to reach a tie and it was Hassan Mohamed who scored the equalizer in the 68th minute.
Both sides add another point to their tally but stand still in their position in the pro league table. Dubai keep the bottom of the standings with 7 points, while Al Shabab remain 4th with 21 points.
