Al Shabab came from behind to defeat Bani Yas 4-1
Al shabab started their march in the Etisalat cup with a deserved 4-1 win over Bani yas in the game held this night at the winners' home ground. The hosts came from behind when they were one goal down to end the first half with a 2-1 lead. Nawaf Mubarak, who transferred from Sharjah to Bani Yas this season, was the first to score in his first official match with his new team. Nawaf netted the ball home off a free kick to the right hand side of Al Shabab's goalie Ismail Rabie in the 18th minute. But Brazilian Cesar made it 1-1 eight minutes later off a penalty kick when defender Saqr Idris fouled Abdullah Darweesh inside the box. The two teams started to search for the second goal but they lost all the opportunities they have created afterwards. Aziz Haydarov scored the second goal for the hosts in the 31st minute with a strong volley from outside the box that went straight into the left hand side of the goalkeeper. Bani Yas went all out looking for the equalizer and Nawaf Mubarak was unlucky to see his rocket-like shot rebounded off the upright in the 35th minute. The upright also deprived Abdullah Darweesh to score the third goal three minutes later to end the first half with a 2-1 lead for the home squad.
Al shabab continued their brilliant performance after the break for Aziz Haydarov to add the third goal only three minutes into the second session and his colleague Julio Cesar made it 4-1 in the 50th minute after rounding up Bani yas' custodian and sent the ball into the empty net. Both teams finished the game with ten players after Abdullah Darweesh from Al shabab and Thamir Mohammad of Bani yas were given marching orders due to the second yellow card in the 74th and 80th minutes respectively.
