Dubai remain in the Etisalat Pro League; Emirates relegate to the First Division
The Emirates Football Team were relegated to the First Division to accompany Sharjah in spite of beating Al Wahda 2-1 in the Etisalat Pro League last round match which was held tonight at the their home ground in Ras Al Khaimah among a big mass of spectators. They raised their tally to 17 points, but this was not enough to help them stay for another season in the Etisalat Pro League as Dubai defeated Al Jazira with two straight goals at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi to take 10th position with 20 points. Al Jazira are in fourth place with 35 points while Al Wahda are in 6th spot with 33 points.
Diyara scored both goals for the Emirates team in the 13th and 27th minutes and Saeed Al Katheri pulled one back for Al Wahda nine minutes after the break.
Dubai who were seeking to avoid relegation started the game with strong performance. Their French pro. Necolas Martin was almost to give them an early lead only 9 minutes into play with a rocket-like volley from outside the box, but it hit the upright. The same player came to launch a strong shot capitalizing on Mohammed Barghash’s error, but the goalkeeper Khalid Essa saved bravely five minutes later. Al Jazira Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira missed a chance in the 27th minute when his header was saved by the goalie to end the first session with a goalless draw.
Abu Bakr Kamara gave Dubai the lead in the 65th minute off a perfect header and his Lebanese teammate Abbas Atwa made it 2-0 eleven minutes to time to secure a 2-0 win for Dubai.
On the other hand Al Nasr and Al Shabab were held to a 2-2 draw for the formers to raise their balance to 41 points that classified them in second position while Al Shabab are in third place with 38 points. Brazilian Kieza opened the scoring in the 24th minute for Al Shabab and Habeeb Al Fardan leveled the result 8 minutes after the breather and his colleague Breciano made it 2-1 five minutes later. But Brazilian Ciel of Al Shabab brought the game back to the first square with a last minute goal to end the match 2-2. Bani Yas and Sharjah also drew with the same margin at Al Shamkha Stadium for the hosts to raise their balance to 24 points taking 9th spot and Sharjah remain at the bottom of the table with 11 points to relegate to the First Division. Haboosh Saleh and Mohammed Fawzi scored for the home team in the 5th and 47th minutes while Salim Jasim and Mohamed Suroor scored for Sharjah in the 85th and three minutes into injury time respectively
