Al Ain Winter’s Champion

With 24 points Al Ain reserve their spot as the winter’s champion with one match still to go before the end of the first-half season. The 1-1 equalizer seemed fair to the purples after all, as long as they keep their tally free of league-defeats. While Al Shabab with 19 points keep their second place on the edge waiting for tomorrow’s local derby Al Jazira vs. Al Wahda to take place at Mohmmad bin Zayed Stadium within Round 10 of the Etisalat Pro League competition.

An early block inside the box for the Romanian Radoi gifted Al Ain a penalty netted through the Argentinian Scocco in the 6th minute, and made it harder on their counterparts who sooner missed their outstanding forward Ciel in the 19th minute for injury and was substituted by Dawood Ali. Al Shabab tried to create number of sitters and take chances throughout the first half but Al Ain whose strength lies within the team were able to push back through the significant performance of Scocco, Helal Saeed and Mohammed Abdulrahman to end the first 45 minutes with 1-0 victory to the visitors.

The second half of the game witnessed the return of Al Shabab who seemed determined not to leave the Pitch empty handed and somehow tried to crack the defense of their opponents. Luckily to the 2011 Etsialat Cup champions they took back what they gave earlier and a block for Cesar inside the six yard gifted the greens a penalty and netted an equalizer in the 58th minute through The Brazilian Julio Cesar who scored in the right corner of Al Ain goalkeeper Dawoud Sulaiman.
