l Shabab take leadership of 2nd group and Al Jazira beat Emirates 6-0
Al Shabab took the leadership of Group "B" in the Etisalat Cup after beating Ajman with a solitary goal in the match played this evening at Maktoum Bin Rashid Stadium in front of a few number of spectators. The winners raised their tally to 12 points taking top position while Ajman slipped to second spot with 10 points following their first defeat in the Etisalat Cup Competition.
The game was marred by poor display from both sides to end the first session with a goalless draw. Most of the work was concentrated on th  midfield zone without any threat to both goalkeepers and the most dangerous chance of Al Shabab was that sent by Chilean player Villanueva in the 45th minute and for his bad fortune his volley rebounded off the cross bar and cleared away by a defender.
Ajman's striker from Cote Devoir Ibrahima Tore was marked strictly to reduce his speed which got him into the offside trap several times, and his colleague Olive did not show the expected standard. The losers' most dangerous chance was in the 72nd minute when Tore was set free with only the goalkeeper to beat but his shot passed just close to the upright.
Rashid Abdul Rahman defender of Ajman committed an error in the 72nd minute for Al Shabab's defender Essa Mohammad to score the all-important goal of the match when the volley off a dead ball hit on the back of one of the defenders to deflect it into the net to the left hand side of the goalie Ali Rabei. Ajman tried to come back to restore afterwards and level the score, but Al Shabab's defense, led by Essam Dhahi, Essa Mohammad and Mohammad Marzooq played strongly up to the end of the match.
In the second match of the day, held at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Al Jazira beat Emirates 6-0 to keep their leadership of Group "A" with 12 points while the losers are classified second from the bottom of the table with 4 points and may slip to the last position if Al Wahda emerge winners in their tomorrow's game against Dubai. Bare scored two quick goals for the hosts team in the 7th and 12th minutes and his countryman Oliveira made it 3-0 in the 19th            minute. Walid Anbar squandered a penalty kick for the visiting team before the break when Al Jazira's keeper Khalid Sinani saved his shot which was cleared afterwards by a defender.
Al Jazira continued their superiority over Emirates after the interval to control the game with their rivals trying to reduce the deficit but they couldn't. Oliveira netted the 4th goal with a perfect header in the 62nd minute and Ahmed Juma'a made it 5-0 with a rocket-like volley that beat Emirates' goalkeeper in the 76th minute. It was the first goal for Al Jazira scored by a local player in the Etisalat Cup Competition as all 13 previous goals were netted by expatriate professional players before Mohammad Bargash added the 6th and second for the locals in the 82nd minute to end the match with a 6-0 win for Al Jazira.
