Bani Yas win 3-1 to stop Al Nasr’s winning streak

 

Al Nasr lost for the first time in the Etisalat Pro League when they were beaten by Bani Yas 3-1 in the seventh round match held tonight at the winners Stadium in Al Shamkha. The hosts moved one step forward to take third position with a record of 15 points, one point ahead of Al Nasr who are classified in fifth place with 14 points.

The two teams demonstrated a balanced and quiet performance amid a poor audience in spite of the fact that  Bani Yas Club has allowed the masses of Al Nasr 40%. The attempts of both teams started since the first few minutes searching for an early goal and Bruno Corea who was set free was almost to give his side the lead and score the first goal of the game for his team Al Nasr but he squandered the chance, although he managed to pass Bani Yas’s advancing goalkeeper Mohammad Ali Gholoom; he hooked the ball over the goalie head but he did not catch the ball after defender Youssef Jaber controlled it in the fifth minute from the  whistle of the start.  This early opportunity boosted the morals of the players of both squads and raised the rate of excitement that was doubled after the hosts scored the first goal in the 13th minute through the Advanced defender Yousuf Jaber who took benefited from the rebound from goalkeeper Abdullah Mousa following a long – range shot fired by Adnan Hussein for Jabra to drive it home easily scoring his second personal goal  in this  season. But the joy of Bani Yas did not live long and it lasted only four minutes, where Al Nasr recovered quickly into the game and leveled the scores  off a stand ball shot  by Giuseppe Mascara into the right  hand side of the goalkeeper Mohammed Ali Gholoom in the 17th   minute.

The two teams went on their balanced display and Mohammed Fawzi was almost to put Bani Yas into the lead but his severe shot was blocked by defender Hilal Saeed to a corner. Bani Yas Egyptian striker Mohammed Zidane missed two successive sitters in the 33th and 35th minutes when he shot the ball just near the post in the first chance and  the keeper Abdullah Mousa saved Zidane’s second attempt. Zidane came to squander a third opportunity four minutes before the break.

On the other hand, Al Nasr played below the par in the first session after retreating back giving their rivals a great chance to attack them continuously.

But they recovered in the second half and came close to score but the goalkeeper Gholoom denied them two successive chances in one minute, and the most dangerous one of the two sitters was missed by Mascara. Another chance was also squandered by Yousuf Jaber when he was only a few meters away.

Bani Yas put more pressure on their rivals but the latters’ goalkeeper and defenders spoiled all the attempts, but Zidane made it 2-1 with a left footer only one minute from the final whistle and added the third in the  five – minute injury time to secure a 3-1 win for his side Bani Yas.

In the second match of the day, Al Ahli outclassed Al Shaab with a 3-1 win at Khalid bin Mohammad. Graffiti opened the scoring off a penalty kick only 7 minutes into play and Emana made it 2-0 four minutes later. Michel reduced the deficit in the 17th minute to end the first session with a 2-1 for Al Ahli. Jiminez netted the third goal for Al Ahli in the 66th minute to give his team a     3-1 win. Al Ahli are in 4th place with 14 points and Al Shaab are 10th with a record of six points.
