Round Three Wrap-up

Sharjah snatched a valuable point when they came from behind to force the home team, Al Ain, to a 1-1 draw in their match played today at Qatara stadium in the third round of the Etisalat Pro-League. Despite of this result, the hosts' squad remains on top of the table with seven points. This draw helped Sharjah to collect their 4th point to take the sixth position, the same balance that was collected by Al Ahli and Al Wahda who are currently staying in the 7th and 8th places respectively. Both goals of the match came as a result of two penalties. Argentinean pro Sand put the hosts on the lead when he converted a penalty into the net giving his side an early win only three minutes to the end of the first session. The visitors played 48 minutes with ten players after their goalkeeper Mahmoud Al Almas was shown the red card when he tackled Al Ain scorer Sand inside the box.

In the other match of the day, Al Wasl got the better of their rivals Baniyas beating them 2-1 in the game played at the winner's stadium. The home team compensated for their big defeat against Al Ahli of Dubai in their derby game played in the second round of the competition. They remain in 5th place giving them the same points as Baniyas and Al Shabab as three teams have six points. Jasim Mahir and Francisco Yeste from Spain netted both goals for the winning side whereas Andrea Sangahoor scored the lone goal for the losers.

In the third match played yesterday, Al Shabab of Dubai maintained a big win after beating Al Dhafra 4-0. The winners have moved to the 4th place with six points while the losers have dropped to the 10th position with only three points. They are only two and three points away from Ittihad Kalba and Dubai respectively who remain at the bottom of the table. Dubai are yet to collect their first point following their loss to Al Ain, Al Shabab and Al Nasr in the first three rounds.
