Al Ain the most beneficial from round 15; 24 goals scored in 7 games
Al Ain benefited much from the 2-2 draw maintained by Al Jazira and Al Ahli in Etisalat Pro League round 15 thrilling match held at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The league leaders, Al Ain, with 37 points, moved far ahead with a nine-point difference from their nearest rivals after beating Ajman with four straight goals at Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium in Qattara , while Al Jazira are runners up with 28 points. Bani Yas also raised their tally to 28 points to take second position on head-to-head matches to Al Jazira whereas Al Ahli slipped to fourth place with 27 points.
In another game played at Zabeel Stadium, Al Nasr came out with a 1-0 valuable win over their counterparts Al Wasl and their Brazilian player Bruno Cesar scored the all - important goal of the game in the 31st minute to raise their balance to 26 points that put them in 5th position against 9th ــ placed Al Wasl with 17 points.
On the other hand Al Shabab continued their positive results defeating Al Wahda 3-2 at Maktoum bin Rashid Stadium in Al Shabab Club to take their record to 23 points in 6th spot while Al Wahda, who are currently in a critical position, stepped down taking 8th position with only 18 points.
Dubai Brazilian Magrao’s late goal scored six minutes to time, secured full points for his side who moved to 7th place with 19 points whereas Al Shaab are 12th with only 7 points on head-to-head matches to Ittihad Kalba and Dibba Al Fujairah who have the same balance of points.
Perhaps the most important characteristic of round 15 is the 3-2 victory snatched by Dibba Al Fujairah over Al Dhafra in the game played in the western region. But despite of this win, Dibba Al Fujairah are still staying at the bottom of the standings with 7 points, the same balance of both Kalba and Al Shaab while Al Dhafra are 11th with 15 points. It was Dibba Al Fujairah’s second and lone away win in the competition of this season.
Twenty four goals were netted in round 15 seven games with an average of 3.4 goals per game, bringing the number of goals in the league so far to 356. But what distinguishes the goals of this round is the strength and tactics that led the players to the back of the net of their opponents. Ghanaian Asamoah Gyan who is currently taking part with his national team in the African Nations Cup in South Africa, has scored 21 goals to stay on top of the table , followed by Brazilian Grafite of Al Ahli with 19 goals, while Bani Yas Senegalese striker Sengahoor raised his tally to 11 goals after scoring a lovely goal for his team against Ittihad Kalba, followed by Ajman’s striker Boris Kabi from Ivory Coast with 11 goals who did not score in this round after his team lost to Al Ain 0-4.
