Al Jazira taken by surprise

Al Ahli thrashed their tough rivals Al Jazira by a 2-1 rewarding victory in the smashing encounter that took place this evening at Rashid Stadium in Dubai in the first night of the second term premiere of the Etisalat Pro League competition.

Taken by surprise, the first minute score netted for the red musketeers through Luis Jiminez in the 2nd minute made the 2011 champions lose concentration and balance and gave their opponents the chance to rein the game from the very beginning. Al Jazira insisted to count on the long balls and somehow lost their forward efficiency, and the wasted 32nd minute penalty performed by Delgado put them off the way.

The thrill continued throughout the second half, the visitors tried to be faster at the beginning and tried to compensate and reach an early tie that might help them get back into the game, yet the 62nd minute goal added to the reds again through Jiminez left the second place holders dream to get closer to the top table on the edge. It was only after the 76th minute when the match playmaker Jiminez received the red card, Al Jazira felt more in control and succeeded to score their match single goal in the 80th minute through Bare. The last 10 minutes felt like a whole new match for the hosts, playing with 10 players against last season champions could never be easy, and trying to keep their confidence till they heard the final whistle was all they could pray for.

With 17 points Al Ahli start a promising second term holding the 6th place in the Etisalat League table, while Al Jazira keeping the second position with 23 points will be desperately waiting how the second night will end.
