Al Ain beat Al Nasr 2-0 to top Reserve League
Al Ain have finished the first round of the Etisalat Reserve League on top of the standings after beating their counterpart Al Nasr 2-0 at Tahnoun bin Mohammed Stadium to raise their tally to 29 points while the losers are in 7th spot with 18 points. Yousuf Ahmad Mousa scored both goals for the winners in the 7th and 58th minutes.
In the second encounter held at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium in Ajman, the hosts maintained a hard-fought 1-0 win over Dibba Al Fujairah to take 6th position with a record of 20 points against 17 for the losers who are staying in 9th place.
On the other hand Al Wasl lost 1-3 to Bani Yas at their home ground in Zabeel to slip to the bottom of the table with 7 points whereas the winners are 10th with 13 points. It was the 10th successive defeat for Al Wasl since the start of the competition.
In the last game of the first day of this round, Ittihad Kalba defeated Dubai with a solitary goal at the winners’ Stadium. Kalba moved one step forward to remain second from the bottom with 9 points on head-to-head match to Al Shaab while Dubai are 11th with 11 points.
The matches of the first part of the Reserve League will be concluded on Friday, December 21 when Dubai face Al Jazira in their 10th round postponed game at Al Aweer Stadium. A win or a draw in this game will keep Al Jazira in their current position, but if Dubai emerge winners they will move one step forward.
