Pro League Committee’s pre-season workshop concludes

The third and final day of the Pro League Committee’s pre-season match officials workshop concluded on Saturday 24th August at the InterContinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City.

Opening the last day of lectures was Noura Aadel, Media Operations Manager at PLC, who explained the roles and responsibilities of media officers – whether from the Pro League Committee or a member of in-house club staff. She also covered the reasoning behind any amendments or new additions to the Media Regulations for the 2013/14 season and explained that all changes have been made in order to facilitate a more efficient and effective way to manage media at matches, adding that PLC will soon be staging a separate meeting with media officers to discuss any necessary details relating to the new Abu Dhabi Sports Channel broadcasting contract.

Michelle Chai, Director of Technical and Competitions at the PLC, continued the workshop with a review of the Pro League Committee’s stadium regulations, looking ahead to new regulations which the PLC intends to introduce over the coming seasons, including specifications relating to pitch markings and measurements.

Guest speaker Keith Dalton, Senior Match Operations Manager at UEFA, presented for the third day running and left the topic of media coordination, accreditation systems and best practices of media officers on match day; again using video clips to effectively convey his message.

The three-day workshop was concluded with a closing speech by Colin Smith, CEO of the Pro League Committee, in which he thanked all attendees for their dedication and attention throughout the event. He gave special thanks to H.E. Abdulla Nasser Al Junaibi, Member of the Executive Office and Chairman of the Technical Committee, for his support during the workshop and throughout the season, and finally Smith presented a commemorative PLC trophy to guest speaker Keith Dalton of UEFA, and thanked him for his insights during the three-day workshop.
