H.E. Mohammed Thani Murshed Al Romaithi, chairman of the Pro League Committee (PLC) took part in the 7th Dubai International Sports Conference which is held on December 28 and 29 at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel and concentrated on a number of football issues at the international and regional levels.

The program of the conference included many influential names in football, the world's most popular sport. The second session, under the title “Professional Players and Codes of Conduct", started at 5:30pm where H.E. Mohammed Thani Murshed Al Romaithi, chairman of the Pro League Committee (PLC), H.E. Abdullah Saeed Al Nabooda, Chairman of Al Ahli football Company and Sandro Rosell Chairman of Barcelona spoke about their experiences in football.

Mohammed Thani Murshed Al Rumaithi assured that having late nights sleep and malnutrition are the most threatening scourges of the UAE league players which both require greater efforts from the clubs to eliminate them through educating the young and junior players by giving attention to professional values and right concepts. Al Rumaithi reviewed his experience when he was chairman of Al Jazira Club where they converted their players from the world of amateur to full professionalism.

Al Rumaithi said: “The main challenges we had faced was how to convert players from the world of amateur to professionalism, but after 5 years in the professional league all the players have become to know the meaning of professionalism”.

Al Rumaithi added that Al Jazira Club cared and focused on academics and young players starting from the age of 12 to help them understand professional thinking. He pointed out that the clubs are to bear the greatest responsibility in changing the behaviour of the players, give them continuous care and educate them in order to help them know the true meaning of professionalism.
