UAE National Team new coach Misfer assures the difficulty of the upcoming stage
Dr. Abdullah Misfer the new coach of the UAE Senior National Team assured that he is facing a big challenge in this stage after being appointed as a successor coach for Katanec who was dismissed before a couple of days. He said that his stint will not be easy due to lack of time to prepare the National team in an ideal standard before facing South Korea in less than four weeks. "There will be no significant changes in the list of the team and we may only add some new players, but minimal" he added. He noted that the names of 24 players will be announced next week after the meeting with the Technical Committee.
This came in a press conference held at the Football Association in Dubai on Wednesday morning in the presence of Dr. Khalid Mohammad Abdullah Secretary General of the Football Association, CEO of the Professional League Committee, assistant coach Hassan Ibrahim and Samir Shakir team's goalkeeping coach. Dr. Khalid Abdullah disclosed the selection of Abdullah Saleh, Director of Al Wahda Football Team as director of the UAE National Team, and Ahmed Saeed, former director of Al Jazira Senior Football Team as administrator for the National Team replacing Ismail Rashid and Fahad Ali, who decided not to continue, and make room for others.
Dr. Khalid extended the gratitude of the Football Association to Ismail and Fahd for the good efforts they made to serve the national team in the previous period.
On the other hand Dr. Misfer thanked HH Sheikh Hazaa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Honorary President of the UAE Football Association for blessing his selection as a coach for the National Team, and also thanked HE Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi Chairman of the Football Association and the Board of Directors for the trust and confidence given to him wishing God would help him in leading the team to achieve the aspirations of the UAE masses.
Dr. Misfer revealed the setup program for the coming period, telling that there will be a local warm-up camp before the match against South Korea in Seoul, from 25 to 29 September, and there is a proposal for a friendly match on September 29th before traveling to China in the first of October. He said the camp will last on October 7th, and there is a friendly match with the Chinese team just one day before the end of the camp and the team is due to leave for the South Korean capital Seoul on October 8th. He noted that the UAE squad will meet South Korea on October 11th and return back home the next day.
Speaking in the press conference, Hassan Ibrahim assistant coach stressed that they will focus in the coming period on the match of South Korea and try to win but they will promise whether they will come back with three valuable points or not.
