The UAE Team face South Korea in a do-or-die match
The UAE Senior Football Team are set to face their counterpart South Korea in a do-or-die encounter on Tuesday, October 11th at 3pm (UAE timing). The match, which will be held at Suwon World Cup Stadium, is the last chance for the visiting squad to keep their hopes alive in the Asian qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The UAE Team held a one-week warm up training camp in China during which they lost 0-2 to the hosts team in a friendly game. The Koreans are staying on top of the group on goal difference to Kuwait with each team having 4 points, while UAE are still to open their account following two successive defeats against Kuwait and Lebanon with 3-2 and 3-1 results respectively. The UAE dismissed Slovenian coach Katanec immediately after the second loss and appointed Dr. Abdullah Misfir to replace him and tomorrow’s game will be his first official match.
The UAE team will miss the efforts of their striker Ahmad Khalil due to injury. Dr. Misfir will meet South Korea with a line up including: Majid Nasr as goalkeeper, Mohammad Ahmed Khalid Sabeel, Hamdan Al Kamali, Waleed Abbas, Basheir Saeed, Abdullah Mousa, Yousuf Jabir, Ali Abbas, Subait Khatir, Mohammad Fawzi, Ismail Al Hamadi, Ali Al Wihaibi, Mohammad Al Shehhy and Ismail Mattar.
