Kuwait beat UAE 2-1; Lebanon maintain a 2-1 historical win over South Korea

The Kuwait Football Team beat UAE 2-1 in the match played today at Al Sadaqua Walsalam Stadium in Kuwait to revive their hopes to qualify to the final stage of the Asian 2014 World Cup qualifiers in Brazil. The winners raised their tally to 8 points to take 3rd position in Group "B" and they must overcome South Korea in Seoul in the last game if they are to secure a berth for the final phase, while UAE are sitting at the bottom of the table with no points.

On the other hand Lebanon National Team have achieved a 2-1 historical victory against South Korea in the encounter held today at the Sports City Stadium in Beirut to raise their balance to 10 points in the second place on goal difference to South Korea who have the same points. The Lebanese Team need a single point in the upcoming match against UAE and may not need it if the Koreans beat their Kuwaiti rivals.

The UAE Team demonstrated a brilliant display and their players were free of pressure after being out of contention following a loss to South Korea last Friday. The UAE National Team finished the first half leading by a solitary goal scored by Ismail Matar.

At the beginning of the second session, the UAE squandered two scoring chances via Ali Al Wihaibi and Subait Khatir before Fahd Al Anzy pulled one back to level the score in the 49th minute with a perfect header into the right hand side. The two teams exchanged some dangerous attacks for the substitute Waleed Abbas to slam the ball home when he tried to clear it away in the 68th minute.

The UAE Team pressed hard to level the result in the remaining time but the Kuwaitis and their goalkeeper stood solid on their way and spoiled all their work.
