Maradona: Al Wasl’s players are part of my family
The Argentinean legend Maradona assured that Al Wasl and Bani Yas played a strong game which ended in a 2-1 victory for the former team, saying that at the time Bani Yas depended on high and long balls, Al Wasl adopted the tactics of short passes. This came in the post press conference held at Al Shamkha Stadium where Maradona congratulated his players for their good efforts in the Etisalat Pro-League second round match for the 2011-2012 season.
Maradona said:” The players are just a part of my family whom I miss here in UAE. The players deserve to thank them for doing well in the game”. He added:” I expected Bani Yas would not remain passive, especially they were playing at home and among their fans, and I want to thank the player Rashid Essa for his good and convincing performance in the game as well as all the team’s players for their efforts and I am proud of them.
On the other hand Brazilian Vieira Bani Yas’ coach confirmed that his team were unlucky for the second successive time, they demonstrated a poor first half but they recovered afterwards and their performance improved after the break and there were some errors that affected the result.
Asked whether he feels that his position is critical after losing in two straight league games, Vieira said: " Bani Yas club’s management can decide whether I stay with the team or not."
Commenting on Tony’s late participation, Vieira said: "I did not field in Tony earlier because he was not physically ready, therefore I divided the time between him and Trezeguet, because I know that Tony had not trained with his former team, Al Jazira , for over 10 consecutive days before joining Bani Yas’s team."
