Bani Yas overcome Dubai and Al Wahda add to Kalba’s woes

Bani Yas came twice from behind to beat their rivals Dubai 3-2 in the Etisalat Pro League third round match held tonight on Al Aweer pitch in Dubai to raise their balance to 6 points, the same that of Al Wahda who are on top of the table provisionally while Dubai remain with only 4 points.

Dubai took the lead through Al Hassan Keita who capitalizing on the individual effort made by his countryman Fondono one minute into stoppage time to end the first half with a lone goal victory.

The two teams demonstrated a balanced and competitive display as Bani Yas endeavored to level the score while their opponents were looking to double their lead. The situation remained unchanged up to the 75th  minute where Bani Yas’s forward Sengahor brought the game to parity off a lovely pass from Amer Abdulrahman. But Dubai’s Australian player Richard Porta put his team again into the lead scoring the second goal in the 78th minute. The substitute Nawaf Mubarak scored the equalizer for Bani Yas two minutes before the final whistle and Yousuf Jaber secured the three points for his side when he headed home the winner in the 92nd minute to end the game with a 3-2 win for Bani Yas.

In the second match played this evening at Kalba Stadium in Sharjah, Al Wahda came back to Abu Dhabi with three points following their 6-0 win over lowly Ittihad Kalba. The winners raised their tally to six points while the losers are sitting at the bottom of the table and are still to open their account. Senegalese striker Papa Waigo opened the score only nine minutes into the game and Brazilian Marcelo made it 2-0 in the 38th minute. Waigo came to add his second goal three minutes before the break to end the first session with a 3-0 lead. Al Wahda netted three more goals in the second half through Essa Santo in the 75th minute, Adil Abdullah in the 80th minute and Sardan from Croatia who completed the rout two minutes into injury time.
