Al Jazira beat Al Wasl 1-0

A solitary goal gave the Abu Dhabi 2011 league champions an invaluable 3 points at such a critical phase in the competition beating  Maradona’s Al Wasl 1-0 in the exciting tough “Match of the Week” encounter which took place in Mohammad bin Zayed stadium this evening at 8:30 pm within Round 15 of the Etisalat Pro League competition.

Both sides have done a great job protecting their nets throughout the game, this was the master plan of two competitors striving hard to stay at the top table. Al Jazira had the advantage though in creating more goal opportunities than Al Wasl 11 to 3 by the end of the first interval which ended with a zero tie.

The second half saw the return of the gold team, the thrill intensified with Al Wasl pushing hard on their hosts with 18 to 10 attacks now by the 75th minute. It seemed for a minute that the opponents were about to settle with a tie unless the 85th minute lone score netted through Al Jazira’s Oliveira that gave his side the final word.

With 29 points Al Jazira get closer to the top table Al Ain and move ahead to the second place, while Al Wasl keep their 21 points in the 6th position on the Pro League standings.
