Al Ahli force Al Jazira to a 2-2 draw

With a last minute goal scored by Lebanese Yousif Mohamed three minutes into injury time, Al Ahli forced Al Jazira to a 2-2 draw in the Etisalat Pro League 15 round match played this evening at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Despite of this draw, Al Jazira retained their second position in the league standings with a record of 28 points, the same balance of Bani Yas but the former are ahead on head-to-head matches. Both teams remain nine points behind leaders Al Ain who are op top with 37 points. Al Ahli added a lone point to their tally to remain in their previous 4th spot with 27 points.
The visiting team looked the better side in the first 15 minutes after controlling the game while the hosts relied heavily on fast counter attacks. Al Ahli’s superiority helped them to take the lead in the 18th minute through Luis Jiminez. Abdullah Mousa sent a long ball afterwards when he saw Al Ahli advancing keeper Majed Naser, but his volley missed the target in the 22nd minute. Majed Naser was punished by the referee Yaagoub Al Hamadi with an indirect free kick when he held the ball sent by his colleague inside the box, but Oliveira’s volley flew over the cross bar.
Al Jazira made good efforts trying to level the scores before the break, but Al Ahli tightened their grip on the game to end the first half with a solitary goal lead.
At the beginning of the second session Al Ahli went on controlling the match for Fernando to send a strong volley after an individual effort but Majed Naser deflected the ball to a corner in the 49th minute. Majed Hassan scored an own goal off the ball switched by Al Jazira Argentinian Delgado and headed by Juma’a Abdullah, the ball hit Majed Hassan and went straight into the net to make it 1-1 in the 65th minute.
The home team took the lead when Fernando netted the ball in the 72nd minute off a cross ball sent by Abdullah Mousa. But Al Ahli Lebanese defender Yousif Mohamed snatched a point for them when he leveled the scores three minutes into stoppage time.
