Ismail Matar among nominees for Best Player of the Year 2011
Ismail Matar, star of the UAE National Football Team and player of Abu Dhabi-based Al Wahda Club, was selected by the AFC Football Confederation among a 15-player list for selecting the best player in Asia in the year 2011.
The list includes 15 players from 10 Asian countries and one of them will be chosen to win the Golden Ball.
Among the players who have been selected, five Arabs: Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Noor, Iraq's Younis Mahmoud, Firas Al Khateeb from Syria, Jordan's Hassan Fattah, in addition to Ismail Matar. There are three players from Iran: Farhad Majidi, Hadi Aghili, Qasim Haddadevar; three from South Korea: Yoom Ki Hoon, Ha Tay Qwon and Koga Sheol, and two from Japan: Kyesuki Honda and Takashi Inoue, and one player from Uzbekistan: Server Jabbarov, and one player also from China: Deng Zhou Jiang. The Australian Sasha Zogninwski has won the award for the Best Player of the Year 2010.
