Franky Vercauteren: Al Jazira endeavor to snatch three points against visitors Al Ahli
Al Jazira’s Belgium coach Franky Vercauteren stressed the importance of their match against Al Ahli scheduled for Saturday October 15th at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium, kick off at 9pm in the opening round of the 4th edition of the Etisalat Pro-League Competition for the professional teams in season 2011-2012.
Commenting on their opening match Frankie said," I am satisfied with the preparations for the game in spite of the absence of seven international players. I will endeavor to make them feel the atmosphere of a league match despite of the fact that I am not quite sure of their success at a rate of 100% because they had an exhausting back home trip after facing South Korea in the Asian qualifiers.
He added: "My words do not mean only justification, because the international player must be able to perform an official game every 3 days while retaining his technical standard for the longest possible period. The task of the clubs is to prepare players for the national teams. I am sure we will play to come out with a win, and to maintain this objective, we must play an attacking football, threaten the opponents' team and score some goals, but we should not foreget that the most important conditions of winning is to defend well and play in a balanced way".
Vercauteren described Al Ahli as a strong team with an improving performance from one game to another. He said," They have distinguished foreign players and theoretically the force of the two teams is equal. But Al Jazira have the advantage of playing at home, and will seek to take three points, because a defeat means staying at the bottom of the table while a draw simply means a loss of two points.
Speaking about the weapons of his team that will help him to win the game, Vercauteren said: "We have many weapons the most important of which are the fighting spirit, the quality of the players, but these weapons must be supported by other factors like the desire to win, concentration throughout the 90 minutes, in addition to discipline in defense and offense."
