Al Sarkal elected President of the UAE Football Association for the period 2012-2016  

The General Assembly of the UAE Football Association, which was held this evening at the National Center for Documentation and Research in Abu Dhabi, has elected His Excellency YousuYaagoub Yousuf Al Sarkal as chairman of the Football Association for the period 2012 – 2016. Al Sarkal, candidate of Al Shabab Club, won the presidency with (26) votes out of 30 votes, while his opponent Abdullah Bin Harib Al Falahi, candidate of Al Wasl Club,collected only two votes.

Mohammed Thani Murshid Al Rumaithi candidate of Al Jazira Club and Obaid Salem Al Shamsi, candidate of Hatta Club were both elected as Vice President of the Football Association with (21) and (16) votes respectively.

Eight UAE Football Association Board of Directors members were elected namely: Saeed Obaid Salem Al Tinaiji (Al Dhaid) 18 votes, Mohammed Abdul Aziz Mohammed Jasim (Sharjah) 21 votes, Mohammed Haji Abdullah Hussain Al Khoury (Al Dhafra) 22 votes, Mohammed Omer Ali Al Shammari (Ajman) 20 votes, Yousuf Mohammed Rasool Khoury (Al Ain) 19 votes, Nasser Mohammed HumaidAl Yamahi (Al Fujairah) 20 votes, Rashid Al Zaabi and Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim with 18 votes each after a run-off after collecting equal votes.

It should be noted that the Election Committee was headed by Mohammed Abdullah Bin Bodowa, Mohsin Musabah as Vice-President and the membership of Essa Mansour Lootah, Fahd Abdullah Bin Juma’aHussain Yaslam Ahmed and Hamed Hassan Al Aidarous representative of the judiciary Authority. Two observers, Beremo Carvaro and James Johnson,from FIFA and AFC also attended the elections.
