The UAE Football Association General Assembly approves amendments in the basic discipline
The UAE Football Association General Assembly held a meeting on Saturday morning July 30th at Intercontinental Hotel Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of his Excellency Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi President of the UAE FA and the General Assembly. The meeting has approved the amendments in the basic discipline of the Professional League and formed a 12 - member committee to manage the Professional League competition. The committee, which is headed by the Vice-President of the Football Association, should be financially and administratively independent. It is composed of the 12 clubs participating in the Pro- League and has the right to set up a four-member executive bureau headed by the Chairman of the Committee. It was decided that the tenure of the Committee should coincide with the cycle of the UAE FA Board of Directors and the current committee will continue its work and functions under the chairmanship of the vice president of the UAE FA until the end of the FA Board of Directors' tenure.
The General Assembly, was attended by HE Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Vice President of the UAE FA, Chairman of the Interim Professional League Committee, Rashid Al Zaabi, Nasser Al Yamahi, Khalid Muherbi members of the Board of Directors along with Dr. Khalid Mohammed Abdullah Acting Secretary-General of the UAE FA, CEO of the Interim Professional League Committee and Nasser Bin Thaloob manager of the UAE FA President's office. Abdullah Al Junaibi Vice Chairman of the interim Professional League Committee, Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Khalid Al Fahim, members of the interim Professional League Committee and 27 representatives of the clubs were also present at the occasion with the exception of three clubs Al Rams, Al Hamriyah and Falaj Al Muala.
Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi President of the UAE Football Association delivered a speech at the outset of the Assembly congratulating the clubs in the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Al Rumaithi said: The FA and its committees had worked hard through the last three years in order to develop all elements of Football and endeavored to improve the game environment and provide all the causes of success and progress as well".
He added: "The last three years were fruitful especially at the level of the National Football Teams as we have achieved the 2008 Youth Asian Championship for the first time and bagged the silver medal in the 2010 Asian Olympic Games in China. We also won the GCC junior championship in 2009 and 2010, qualified to the 2009 Youth and juniors World Cup in Egypt and Nigeria. Moreover we organized the Club World Cup in 2009 and 2010 in Abu Dhabi and we will organize the 2013 World Cup for juniors".
The General Assembly has also approved the closing account, the balance of the New Year, as well as the referee's and refereeing rules.
On the other hand Dr. Khalid Mohammed Abdullah assured in a press conference held afterwards the introduction of an arbitration panel to settle the disputes and differences arising between the clubs and the FA and its committees or with any other body. He said that the UAEFA currently has two judicial authorities namely: the disciplinary and appeal, pointing out that the decisions of the arbitration panel will be final.
The General Assembly approved all the proposed amendments to the basic discipline regarding the regulations of: discipline, player's status and transfer committee, disputes and appeal committee.
The President of the UAEFA directed the executive committee to hold workshops with the clubs during the holy month of Ramadan to discuss the issues and all proposals which have been made by the clubs during the General Assembly.
