Etisalat Pro League Awards nominees revealed
The Technical Committee of the Etisalat Pro League Awards has announced the nominees shortlisted in the five awards categories voted on by media institutions and Coaches, Captains and Team Managers of all 14 professional clubs. The winners will be revealed at the inaugural Etisalat Pro League Awards ceremony, which will be hosted on Sunday 26th May at the ADNEC Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi and broadcast live on Abu Dhabi Sports Channel.
Competing for the title of Emirati Player of the Year are striker Ali Mabkhout – Al Jazira, midfielder Amer Abdulrahman – Bani Yas, midfielder Habib Al Fardan – Al Nasr, winger Ismael Al Hammadi – Al Ahli, and midfielder Omar Abdulrahman – Al Ain. Battling it out in the International Player of the Year category are Egyptian striker Mohamed Aboutrika – Bani Yas, Ivorian striker Boris Kabi – Ajman, Brazilian striker Ciel – Al Shabab, Brazilian striker Grafite – Al Ahli, and Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan – Al Ain.
It is not only players being honoured at the ceremony, as one of the five nominees in the Coach of the Year category will find out. The shortlisted coaches for this award are Abdulwahab Abdulkader of Ajman, Quique Flores of Al Ahli, Cosmin Olaroiu of Al Ain, Dr. Abdullah Misfer of Dibba Al Fujairah, and Marcos Paqueta of Al Shabab. The ceremony will also highlight some of the best up-and-coming young players in the Etisalat Pro League, with seven under-19 players nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, namely: Khalifa Abdulla Lahej of Al Wasl, Yousef Ahmed of Al Ain, Salim Ali Ibrahim of Al Jazira, Ahmed Shambieh of Al Nasr, Fahad Hadeed of Al Wasl, Badr Al Harthi of Al Wahda, and Ali Yaqoub of Al Shaab. The final award voted on by media and clubs is Goalkeeper of the Year, for which the nominees are Ali Khaseif of Al Jazira, Majed Naser of Al Ahli, Khalid Al Sinani of Al Dhafra, Dawoud Sulaiman of Al Ain, and Ahmed Shambieh of Al Nasr.
