The 4th round the highest in number of goals; Toure remains on top of the scorers
Twenty eight goals were scored in the 4th round of the Etisalat Cup at a rate of 4.7 goals per match with 4 goals more than the first round which saw 24 goals. The third round has seen the lowest rate of scoring goals since the start of the competition four weeks ago, as only16 goals were scored. The number of goals scored in the four rounds so far was 87 goals, an average of 3.6 goals per match. The teams in Group “A” have netted 44 goals, while teams in Group “B” have scored 43 goals.
Following his goal against Al Nasr, the Ivory Coast striker Ibrahima Toure of Ajman raised his tally to six goals that put him on top of the scorers. He is followed by Graffiti of Al Ahli with five goals, having scored one against Bani Yas. Ten players have scored three goals each to share third place namely: Radoi (Al Ain), Idir Luciano (Sharjah), Oliveira and Delgado (Al Jazira), Al Hassan Keita (Emirates), Essa Ali (Al Wasl), Villanueva, Julio Cesar (Al Shaba), Hugo (Al Wahda) and Abu Bakr Kamara (Dubai ).
Both Ajman and Al Shabab’s front liners were considered the strongest by the end of the 4th round matches, as each scored 10 goals, while Bani Yas attacking line was the weakest among all the teams, scoring just three goals in four games. Al Shabab and Dubai’s defense lines were the strongest after conceding only four goals each while Sharjah’s defense was the weakest after conceding 10 goals.
Red and yellow cards
The match referees have shown 23 yellow and two red cards in the 4th round matches of the Etisalat Cup, the most of which appeared in Al Ain-Al Jazira game. Both Saleh Obaid (Al Jazira) and Mohammed Salim (Al Ain) were given marching orders in addition to 5 yellow cards shown in the same match. Three clubs did not receive any cards in the last round: Al Nasr, Al Wahda and Al Ahli.
