Al Ain reserve team overcome Al Wasl with 8 straight goals
Al Ain, champions of the Reserve League, overcame their counterparts Al Was with 8 straight goals in Etisalat Reserve League round 18 match played at Tahnoun Bin Mohammed Stadium in Qattara. Shihab Ahmed scored a hat trick in the 5th, 36th and 55th minutes; Mohammed Malalla netted two in the 37th and 56th minutes while Hamad Ali, the substitute Bander Mohammed and Abdul Aziz Fayez scored one goal each. Al Ain raised their tally to 50 points against 24 points collected by Al Wasl.
Ajman beat Emirates 3-1 at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium. The losers opened the score through Idris Fawzi five minutes before the break to end the first session with a 1-0 win. But Ajman recovered in the second half via Abdullah Al Gamhi who levelled the score one minute after the breather. His teammate Mubarak Salim made it 2-1 in the 67th minute and the substitute Abdullah Khamis netted the third ten minutes to time. Ajman raised their tally to 22 points while Emirates’ balance was frozen at 19 points.
Al Shabab (20 points) and Al Jazira (25 points) drew with a goalless draw at the former’s Stadium. Dubai and Al Ahli were also tied to a 2-2 draw in their match held at Al Aweer Stadium. Ghanim Ahmed put Al Ahli into the lead 9 minutes from the start but Ahmed Yousuf made it 1-1 in the last minute of the first half. The visitors took the lead again via Abdullah Essa four minutes after the break but the hosts refused to lose the game when Abbas Atwa brought the match to the first square in the 83rd minute. Dubai are classified at the bottom of the table with 7 points while Al Ahli are second from bottom with 18 points.
On the other matches of this round, Bani Yas maintained a hard fought win when they beat Al Nasr with a solitary goal at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai. Ibrahim Saeed scored the all-important goal of the match in the 77th minute for the winners to increase their balance to 34 points against 29 collected by Al Nasr. Al Wahda drew 3-3 with Sharjah at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Both teams have collected 23 points each so far.
