Al Nasr chase leaders Al Ain and ninth round witnesses 35 goals
Al Ain crushed the hosts team Dubai 5-2, in a match marred by great excitement between the two teams, and brilliance of Al Ain playmaker Omar Abdul Rahman, who managed to score two goals in the game, for Al Ain to take their tally to 22 points that helped them to remain on top of the league table. Al Nasr continued their series of good results this season after beating their counterparts Dibba Al Fujairah 3-1 to stay just two points behind leaders Al Ain keeping their continuous chase to Al Ain after raising their balance to 22 points. Although Al Nasr did not come up with the required technical standard, according to their Italian coach Zenga, but the full points made the coach feel happy and content with the result.
On the other hand, Al Ahli succeeded in disengagement with Al Wahda as both teams were equal on number of points before the ninth round, and the "Knights" were able to crush their rivals 6-2 in a match where Brazilian striker Graffiti scored a super-trick for the winners to raise their tally to 18 points to remain alone in fourth position with Al Wahda stepping down to sixth place with 15 points.
Bani Yas have shined in their home match held at Al Shamkha and managed to overcome the visiting team Ajman with five straight goals scored by their brilliant players especially the Senegalese Sengahoor who came back after suspension in addition to Ahmed Ali, who was in his own day. Bani Yas raised their balance to 19 points to remain in third place competing for the top spots in the league table.
Al Jazira maintained a 3-1 hard fought win over Ittihad Kalba who are at the bottom of the standings to jump to fifth place with 17 points. Among the most prominent results of this round, was Al Shabab’s 2-1 win over their neighbors Al Wasl at Maktoum bin Rashid Stadium, to take eleventh place with 8 points. This win was the second achieved by Al Shabab in the league of this season.
The ninth round has witnessed 35 goals in seven matches with a rate of 5 goals per match. The Ghanaian Asamoah Gyan, striker of Al Ain team, is on top of the standings with 17 goals after netting a brace against Dubai, followed by Brazilian Graffiti with 16 goals who scored a super hat trick against Al Wahda. The Uruguayan Alfaro is taking third place with 8 goals after scoring the equalizer in the last game against Al Shabab. Omar Abdul Rahman the playmaker of Al Ain is on top of the local scorers with 6 goals, having managed to score two goals against Dubai”.
