Ajman host Al Shabab in a tough clash; Al Wahda and Al Ahli face Dubai and Al Nasr
The first week of the Etisalat Cup Competition second round match is due to kick off on Friday November 18 when Ajman host Al Shabab at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium at 4:45pm. Both teams are expected to play a thrilling game and struggle hard to top Group “B” as Al Shabab are currently sitting on top of the ladder with 12 points followed by Ajman in the second position with 10 points and both squads are endeavoring to qualify to the semifinal stage.
In the second match of the day, Abu Dhabi-based Al Wahda will travel to Dubai to face the hosts team Dubai at the latters’ home ground in Al Aweer, kick off at 4:45pm. Both teams have collected 6 points each so far but the visitors are classified in 4th position in Group “A” after beating Dubai 3-2 in their 5th round head-to-head game held at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Al Wahda are looking to continue their positive results hopefully that their professional players would demonstrate better performance compared to what they had shown in the first weeks of the current season. Dubai will also face their opponents with the same ambition trying to benefit of playing at home in front of their fans and come out with a good result that would raise their balance to 9 points and put them more closer to the leading teams.
In the last match being held on Friday at 8.00pm, Al Ahli and Al Nasr will meet again in their second Dubai derby game as Al Ahli beat their rivals 3-2 in the first leg match last week. Al Ahli newly signed Spanish coach Flores Quique will lead the team tomorrow in his first official game. Al Ahli are seeking to increase their points tally to 13 to compete with Al Shabab for the forefront, while Al Nasr, who have four points, are seeking to improve their modest image which they had showed in many Etisalat league and Cup matches.
The six round matches will be concluded on Saturday November 19 when Emirates meet Al Jazira, Sharjah face Bani Yas and Al Ain host Al Wasl. All 12 teams will restart their Etisalat Pro-League matches for the current season by the end of this round.
