Bani Yas go top; the outcome of the fifth round 21 goals

 

Bani Yas are on top of the Etisalat Pro – League table with 12 points following a two straight goals win over their counterparts Dibba Al Fujairah in the fifth round match. They benefited much from Al Nasr - Dubai 1-1 draw and Al Jazira – Al Ain 2-2 draw in of a high – profile game that delighted all the followers. Bani Yas took leadership with four successive wins and a 2-0 lone loss to Al Shabab in the opening round followed by Al Nasr as runners – up with 11 points. Al Ahli are in third place with 10 points after beating Ittihad Kalba 3-1 and then Al Ain with 10 points that put them in fourth spot on head – to – head match after losing to Al Ahli 3-6 in the first league  opening match.

Al Wasl took fifth place with 9 points after drawing with Al Dhafra 1 -1 in a match in which the latters proved they will not be an easy opponent in the league of this season.  The sixth position was awarded to Al Wahda with 9 points and Dubai occupy seventh place with a record of 8 points on goal difference to Al Dhafra  who are taking 8th spot with the same balance of points . Dubai proved that they are a strong team through the services provided by each of the Australian Richard Porta and French Simon Fondono in addition to the dynamic playmaker Hassan Abdel Rahman.

Al Jazira added one point to their tally to sit in 9th position with 7 points after a 2-2 draw with Al Ain. They came from behind when they were two goals down to draw 2-2 and revive their hopes to be closer to the top teams. Al Shaab are in 10th place after losing to Al Wahda, followed by Al Shabab and Ajman in the 11th and 12th spots with 4 and 2 points respectively after a 2-2 draw. Dibba Al Fujairah are in the penultimate position with one point and Ittihad Kalba are at the bottom of the table and are yet to open their account.

The fifth round has seen 21 goals with an average of 3 goals per game, and the scoring proportion has dropped down after the teams’ technical bodies corrected the defensive errors properly. Brazilian Grafite, Al Ahli striker is on top of the scorers’ table with 11 goals, having succeeded in netting two goals in the 15th  and 16th minutes  in their match against  Ittihad Kalba, followed by Al Ain Ghanaian front liner Asamoah Gyan with 10 goals who scored in the "Clasico" match from the penalty spot.  Uruguayan Al Faro of Al Wasl remains with 6 goals as he failed to score in their game against Al Dhafra at Zabeel Stadium, while Bani Yas Senegalese striker Sengahor scored a goal against Dibba Al Fujairah to take his tally to 6 goals, too, and each of the Italian Mascara striker of Al Nasr, Australian Porta of Dubai and Vergilio of Al Shaab have an equal balance of 5 goals. Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira of Al Jazira scored 4 goals so far after his lone goal in the "Clasico", and Nasser Khamis striker  of Al Shaab Club remains on top of the list of the local scorers in the league of this season with 3 goals.

It is worth mentioning that matches of the sixth round will be played on Friday and Saturday, November 2 and 3 where Ajman will host Ittihad Kalba, Al Dhafra face Al Shabab, Al Wahda play against Bani Yas in a high – profile match. In the second day Al Nasr will take on Al Shaab, Dibba Al Fujairah will meet Al Jazira, Alhli will tackle it out against Dubai and Al Ain will play Al Wasl at home in one of the strongest matches of this round.
