The second round witnesses the coming back of 4 competing Clubs
The Etisalat Pro League 2012 – 2013 second round has witnessed the coming back of four competing Clubs Al Ain, Al Jazira, Al Wahda and Bani Yas to the right track after winning in their previous matches. Al Ain beat Ajman 4 – 1 at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium in Ajman, Al Jazira outclassed Al Ahli 2-0 at the latters’ home ground, Al Wahda defeated Al Shabab at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi with a lone goal while Bani Yas got the better of Ittihad Kalba with a two straight goals win on the winners pitch in Al Shamkha.
As a result of the outcome of the second round games, all four teams Al Wasl, Al Nasr, Dubai and Al Dhafra share the leadership of the league with four points each, but Al Wasl are sitting on top of the table on goal difference above of Al Nasr who are taking second position while Dubai and Al Dhafra are classified in the third and fourth spots with the same points and difference of goals.
Al Shaab, Al Ahli, Al Jazira, Al Shabab, Al Ain, Bani Yas and Al Wahda have collected three points each so far taking 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th places respectively followed by Dibba Al Fujairah and Ajman in the 12th and 13th positions with one point each above of lowly Ittihad Kalba who are yet to open their account.
Twenty two goals were scored in the second round with a percentage of three goals per one match and with a three – goal difference from the opening week which witnessed 25 goals.
The Italian player Alfaro is leading the scorers’ table with five goals after netting a hat – trick and a brace against Al Wahda and Al Nasr in the first and second rounds respectively. Both strikers Brazilian Graffiti of Al Ahli and Ghanaian Asamoah Gyan of Al Ain scored four goals each that put them in the second spot followed by Al Shaab’s forward Rodrigo Vergillo with three goals and Ajman’s striker Founeke Sy from Mali, Naser Khamis of Al Shaab and Australian Richard Porta of Dubai with two goals each.
It is worth mentioning that the Etisalat Pro-League third round matches will be held on Thursday and Friday, October 4 and 5. Three games will be played on the first day and the remaining four matches will be held on the following day, followed by a 15 – day stoppage period during which the second and third rounds of the Etisalat Cup will take place.
