Etisalat Pro League Round 16

The Etisalat Pro League campaign returns in Round 16 on Saturday and Sunday March 24th & 25th. The competition is about to end, we are 7 rounds away from announcing the 2012 champions. The clash is getting stronger with top teams striving to collect more points and increase their chances while bottom teams fighting hard to escape relegation. Saturday starts with three significant encounters which gather Al Wasl & Emirates, Al Jazira & Ajman and the first night ends with Al Ain & Sharjah. Sunday continues with Duabi & Al Wahda, Bani Yas & Al Shabab, and the finale to be with Al Ahli & Al Nasr derby.

Round 16-Day 1
Round 16 begins with Al Wasl hosting their RAK-based rivals Emirates in Rashed bin Saeed stadium (Ajman Club) at 5:45 pm in the encounter where Maradona’s men will be doing their best to overcome their last league-defeat before Al Jazira and try to move ahead to the 5th position in case Ajman failed to make it before Al Jazira this week. On the other hand Emirates threatened to fall back again in the relegation trap with one point ahead only from Sharjah and Dubai, 3 points will be more than invaluable for the visitors to gain. Al Jazira will take on Ajman in Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi at 5:50 pm. The hosts hope to get closer to the top table Al Ain anticipating to decrease the points gap in case the purples failed in one of their encounters. Ajman motivated by their last spectacular 3-1 league-win against Al Wahda have the spirit to end with one of the top four and make their first entrance next year into the AFC Champions League competition. Al Ain to visit the king at 8:30 pm, the top and bottom table encounter promise a tough competitive clash in which the purples are trying to keep the points difference and Sharjah with what’s left, want not to end out of the spotlight.

Round 16- Day 2
Bottom table Dubai host their Abu Dhabi opponents Al Wahda in Al Awir Stadium at 5:45 pm, Al Wahda coming 8th on the standings with 19 points still have hope to end the championship at better position. It is getting harder on Al Awir lions who could not escape the bottom table all this time, yet hope remains, sharing the same points with Sharjah (10 points) and only one point away from Emirates, it will be a struggle of survival. Bani Yas meet Al Shabab home in Al shamikha in Abu Dhabi at 5:50 pm. Bani Yas are 7th with 19 points in the pro league table while Al Shabab are 4th with 27 points, both sides have what it takes to stay in the heart of the competition. The Round 16 finale sees Al Ahli facing the third place occupiers Al Nasr in Rashid Stadium at 8:30 pm. Al Ahli who keep the 9th position on the standings with 17 points after the last 1-0 league-defeat in Al Qattarah before top table Al Ain will be trying to make it up for their fans and improve their ranking before the end of the season.
