Fans out in force for Etisalat Cup Final

The 2012-2013 Etisalat Cup Final attracted fans of Ajman and Al Jazira in their droves to Al Wasl’s Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, in order to watch and support their sides in their bid for silverware. By the end of the match it was Ajman’s fans who had more to celebrate as they witnessed their team lift their first trophy since 1984 with a 2-1 win, but before and during the game both sets of fans enjoyed a great variety of entertainment.

A dedicated Fan Zone was set up within the perimeters of the stadium complex, opening two hours before kick-off and offering plenty of activities for fans to participate in. Organised by the Pro League Committee in association with competition title sponsors Etisalat and sponsors Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), fans took part in football-related games and challenges including inflatable human fooseball whilst being provided with food, drink and music by the Pro League Committee to set the atmosphere for the Cup Final to follow. Fans were given flags and scarves emblazoned with the insignia of their chosen team – Ajman or Al Jazira – in order to show their support at the match, and the fans’ activities didn’t stop when the game was underway as Etisalat provided a half-time penalty shoot-out competition on the pitch at half-time, along with Shaabiyat El Cartoon characters to interact with the crowd. ADIB also rewarded fans with a half-time prize draw, leaving both sets of supporters with something to smile about.
