Etisalat Cup Round 8 Match Preview

16 points put the Group A top table Al Jazira only a step away from the semi-finals of the Etisalat Cup competition alongside Group B top table Al Shabab with the same points. The Etisalat Cup Round 8 encounters kick off on Thursday February 2nd at 6:50 pm, where Sharjah host Ajman at Sharjah stadium, Bani Yas visit Dubai to meet Al Nasr at Al Maktoum stadium while Al Ahli face Al Shabab home at Rashid stadium.

Group A teams continue the Round 8 matches on Friday February 3rd with Al Ain hosting Emirates at Tahnoun bin Mohammad stadium, Dubai face Al Jazira at Al Awir stadium and Al Wasl end the night finale meeting their Abu Dhabi opponents at Zabeel stadium in Dubai.

Ajman aim at the 15 points
Ajman look determined to increase their tally and stay close to the Group B top table Al Shabab. Coming second with 12 points, the orange need to keep the very short distant gap from the third place occupiers Al Ahli and have more chances into the semi-finals. Sharjah on the other hand with 2 points on the Etisalat Cup table have completely gone out of the competition, the match will do them well though preparing for the next week’s Round 13 league encounters.

A draw is out of the question
Al Nasr face Bani Yas home in one of the first night most ferocious encounters. Both sides with 8 points on the standings look to invest in the remaining groups’ cup matches and reserve a possible ticket to the golden box. Another 9 points will add to one’s tally up to 17 and both sides still have the chance to it provided a draw stay out of the question.

Al Ahli to tackle Al Shabab
The red Knights with 11 points have a hard work to do and a lot of anticipation, first to try to tackle their group top table Al Shabab, and second Sharjah do them a favor to topple Ajman and occupy the second place. Al Shabab on the other hand have better chances, in case they won this game they will book themselves a place in the semi-finals and the remaining two encounters will be stress free.

A chance to compensate for Al Ain
The Boss with 10 points on the standings are given a chance to compensate their 4-0 cup-defeat before their group leaders, facing the bottom table Emirates who with 5 points have run out of possibilities to stay in the competition, the purples keeping the third position need to win this battle in order to move closer to the semi-finals.

The 2 top table encounter
Al Jazira with 16 points will feel more at ease and officially name themselves as part of the semi-finals qualifiers if they won against their Dubai opponents who have 12 points in their tally, otherwise they will give their group competitors particularly Al Ain and Dubai more chances to get into the golden box.

Al Wasl vs Al Wahda
Both keeping 9 points in their tally, the loser is certainly out of the competition and so a draw is also out of the question. Al Wahda feel more confident after their last week victory over Emirates while Al Wasl finally coming back home have to overcome their previous cup-defeat against Dubai.
